"The 6,200-square-foot, two-story house was built in 2001. The step-down living room adjoins a music room. French doors off the dining room lead to an outside courtyard. A double-sided fireplace in the master suite opens to both the bedroom and bathroom. The basement includes a media room, a wine cellar and a wet bar. There are a total of five bedrooms and 61/2 bathrooms."
"Peart, 59, joined the hard rock/heavy metal band in 1974 as a drummer, percussionist and lyricist. Rush completed a tour of Europe and North and South America in July. Their most recent studio album, Snakes & Arrows, was released in 2007."
Neil Peart, drummer and lyricist for rock band Rush, purchased a Mediterranean-style home in Santa Monica for $4.95 million, down from the asking price of $5.125 million. The Richard Landry-designed residence spans 6,200 square feet across two stories and was built in 2001. The home includes five bedrooms, 6.5 bathrooms, a dedicated music room adjoining the living room, a master suite with double-sided fireplace, and a basement featuring a media room, wine cellar, and wet bar. Peart, 59, has been Rush's drummer, percussionist, and primary lyricist since joining the band in 1974. The transaction was handled by Deborah Silverstein of Prudential California Realty and Leah Lail of Coldwell Banker.
