Rene Redzepi Steps Away From Noma

"After more than two decades of building and leading this restaurant, I've decided to step away and allow our extraordinary leaders to now guide the restaurant into its next chapter. Redzepi announced his resignation via Instagram story on March 11, stating he would step away from daily operations effective immediately while Noma's Los Angeles residency would continue without him at the helm."

"New York Times reporter Julia Moskin published a report with allegations from 35 former employees who allege instances of Redzepi punching staff, assaulting employees with utensils such as a barbecue fork during service, and publicly shaming staff. Prior to the New York Times reporting, Jason Ignacio White, a former head of fermentation at Noma, began posting screenshots of anonymous messages detailing alleged instances of physical and mental abuse."

"A statement from a Noma spokesperson outlined numerous changes Noma has made to its organizational practices since 2022, including offering a four-day work week, the replacement of the unpaid internship program with a paid program, and a dedicated human resources hire."
