Go Betty Go's 25 years of DIY work ethic helped the group turn up for guitarist's cancer battle
Briefly

Go Betty Go marks their 25th anniversary amid guitarist Betty Cisneros's recovery from Stage 4 colorectal cancer. Despite not gaining widespread fame, their sound attracts a cult following. Cisneros initially kept her cancer diagnosis private but later shared her journey on social media, connecting with fellow survivors. After receiving clear scans, she expressed gratitude while acknowledging ongoing recovery challenges, particularly with her hands and feet. The band, which began writing new music in 2018, resumed studio work after COVID-19 delays, highlighting their enduring commitment to music and resilience.
When I was first diagnosed with Stage 4 colorectal cancer, it was too personal to share. I didn't even tell my family right away.
That vulnerability sparked something powerful. Now I've got to meet so many people who've reached out to me, other cancer survivors, people going through the same thing.
I am so thankful for this great news, but I still have a lot of recovery ahead of me. I still can't feel my hands or feet.
Playing guitar again meant relearning everything, since I had a lot of issues with my hands and feet. But, thankfully, we made it happen.
