A popular Disneyland ride just lost its fast lane - and it's a good thing
Briefly

As of July 1, Disneyland has revoked Lightning Lane privileges for Pirates of the Caribbean, which now operates on a standby-only basis. Originally added to the Lightning Lane offerings in January 2024, the ride was along with others that saw line-skipping capabilities removed after renovations. High-capacity rides, including Pirates, historically maintained manageable wait times, and the addition of Lightning Lane led to artificial bottlenecks, creating longer queues. The removal of Lightning Lane for this ride is expected to decrease standby wait times for parkgoers following the reopening of other attractions.
"Some attractions simply don't need Lightning Lane. High-capacity rides like Pirates of the Caribbean, Little Mermaid, Haunted Mansion, and it's a small world historically maintained manageable wait times."
"Adding Lightning Lane to these attractions has created artificial bottlenecks, with queues spilling out into pathways and wait times skyrocketing unnecessarily."
