LeBron James confronted ESPN commentator Stephen A. Smith after the Lakers’ overtime victory against the Knicks, regarding comments Smith made about James’ son, Bronny. Smith acknowledged the interaction on ESPN's First Take, noting that James approached him as a protective father rather than a player. While Smith understood James' concerns about his son's portrayal in the media, he expressed disappointment that James chose a public confrontation instead of direct communication. Smith emphasized he has never criticized Bronny, highlighting the importance of respectful dialogue around such sensitive topics.
That was LeBron James coming up to me, unexpectedly I might add, to confront me about making sure that I mind what I say about his son, Smith said on Friday's First Take.
I can't sit here and be angry or feel slighted by LeBron James in any way in that regard. By all accounts, he's obviously a wonderful family man and wonderful father.
