The NHL franchise in Salt Lake City will be known as the Utah Mammoth, a name chosen by the community after extensive input. The owners emphasized building the team for and with the people of Utah. The name Mammoth symbolizes the state’s history, signified by fossils found locally. The team retains its color scheme and logo design, integrating elements that represent its geographical identity. With exciting prospects for the upcoming draft and potential for young talent, the Mammoth aims to be competitive in the league.
The community chose the Utah Mammoth brand, and it stands as a symbol of who we are, where we came from and the unstoppable force we're building together.
Mammoth fossils have been found throughout Utah, including a complete skeleton in Huntington Canyon in 1988.
With young talent like captain Clayton Keller, budding star forward Logan Cooley, and two-time Stanley Cup champion Mikhail Sergachev, the Mammoth could contend for a playoff spot.
From Day 1, we committed that this team would be built with and for the people of Utah, and we are excited to celebrate today's launch.
