This Drag Race icon has turned down The Traitors four times
"I love Trixie Mattel. I mean, I'm a big fan of Drag Race, but I think Trixie is kind of a unique brand. And, we were thinking, 'Who would be on The Traitors? And, you know, they always pick a drag queen. And, I thought, 'Well, if we have a choice, let's ask Trixie.'"
"Trixie told me that she had said no to The Traitors four times in real life. And then, when we asked her to do The Traitors on The Comeback, she said, 'Of course,' she loves Valerie. And she was so excited."
"Trixie was so committed to the cameo that King revealed she cancelled plans to go on vacation for her birthday just to film the scene."
"She was thrilled at the chance to sit across from Valerie and take part in The Traitors 'her way.'"
Trixie Mattel turned down invitations to appear on The Traitors four times before agreeing to a role in the scripted version for The Comeback. Michael Patrick King, the creator, revealed that Trixie was their ideal choice for the show. Her acceptance was influenced by her admiration for the character Valerie Cherish. Trixie was so enthusiastic about the cameo that she canceled her birthday vacation to film the scene, excited to participate in The Traitors in her own way.
