The Philadelphia Flyers have a prime opportunity to trade up in the first round of the 2025 NHL Draft thanks to the Los Angeles Kings' need to offload their 24th overall pick. The Kings, who have traded draft picks to acquire immediate talent, lack key draft selections and are looking to make a deal. Flyers management is well-positioned to benefit from this situation, especially as the Kings' scouting director noted that teams like the Flyers and Sharks might find mutual advantage in such a trade. Their depth of picks allows flexibility and potential to acquire a higher-caliber player.
If you look at movement scenarios, like moving from 24 to 25, you're very limited in your movement scenarios at 24. Ones that make sense might be San Jose and Philadelphia.
It makes sense for a team like Philly... to move, and this is just me reading a situation... in eight picks, 24 to 31 or 24 to 32 you're losing a tier.
