Ahsoka Season 1 primarily served as a setup for future conflicts, particularly around the Imperial Remnant and the introduction of Grand Admiral Thrawn as a new villain. The season concluded on an underwhelming cliffhanger, leading into the anticipated Season 2. Creator Dave Filoni has announced that production is underway and that Season 2 will embrace a more action-oriented approach, inspired by war films, while also revisiting nostalgic elements from Ahsoka's past, including significant flashbacks and character returns.
For all its virtues, Ahsoka Season 1 largely felt like a set-up for a larger conflict to come... it took way too long introducing this threat to the galaxy.
I see Season 2 like a war movie... we're drawing inspiration from epic films like Tora! Tora! Tora! and The Battle of the Bulge.
Season 2 will hopefully bring us into the action right away... invoking the best parts of Season 1: the flashbacks to a younger Ahsoka.
Ahsoka Season 2 will again straddle past and present with the help of the World Between Worlds... it won't be its only nostalgic reference.
