USC's Dedeaux Field is set for major renovations, facilitated by the need for a new football practice facility. Though players cherished the old field, the upgrade promises to provide a top-tier baseball experience. Efforts led by director of turf Scott Lupold emphasize meticulous detail in the design of both the field and surrounding structures. The use of premium materials, including elite Bermudagrass and specifically graded dirt, aims to create an exceptional playing surface that reflects USC's storied baseball heritage, ensuring a facility that meets contemporary standards.
The grade of the infield is perfectly flat, and we designed every aspect of the surface how we wanted it. This is USC's Sistine Chapel.
While the players loved the old Dedeaux Field, the update is an opportunity to create a state-of-the-art baseball facility matched to USC's legacy.
