The Unsung Hero of Dodgers Spring Training
"I've been traded two times in my career. Obviously, I'd never played for a team that wins. It's good to win and be a part of this. Obviously, I don't want to go, but if they feel they can be a better team, they're going to do it. As much as I like to be here, for them, [there's] the business side of it, and if they feel they can be better [by] trading me, they're going to do it."
"I like to be on the field, I like to play, I like to take a lot of at-bats. And, it's always good to have success."
Teoscar Hernandez faced criticism during the 2025 season for poor defensive performance in right field and mediocre offensive production, accumulating only 0.6 fWAR despite playing 134 games. Trade rumors circulated around the Dodgers outfielder, but he remained with the team as Los Angeles repositioned him to left field to accommodate Kyle Tucker. Rather than allowing trade speculation to negatively impact his mentality, Hernandez returned to spring training refreshed and refocused. He lost 12 pounds during the offseason and recovered from a groin injury that plagued him throughout 2025. His positive attitude and strong spring training performance suggest a potential bounce-back year ahead.
