The Athletic Reporter Apologizes to Dodgers Star for Reporting He Was Suspended for Drugs After Ballplayer Publicly Called Him Out for B*llshit'
"To Miguel Rojas and the Dodgers, I sincerely and publicly apologize. I've reached out to Miguel, the Dodgers and Miguel's agent to say the same. Once again, I'm sorry."
"He didn't mistype my name. He did it with all the intention to put my name and the organization's name on that tweet. One thing is to mistype my name and say Miguel Rojas got suspended—that's a kind of fair mistake that you can commit. But when you say Miguel Rojas from the Los Angeles Dodgers got suspended 80 games for PEDs, that's what I'm not good with."
Evan Drellich, a senior writer for The Athletic, issued a public apology to Miguel Rojas and the Los Angeles Dodgers after incorrectly reporting that Rojas had been suspended for 80 games for using banned substances. The erroneous report was posted on Monday and deleted shortly after. Drellich had confused Rojas with Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Johan Rojas, who was the player actually suspended. During an interview on the Jomboy Media Baseball show, Rojas expressed frustration that Drellich had intentionally included his name and the Dodgers organization in the tweet rather than simply mistyping. Rojas criticized Drellich for not contacting him or the organization to apologize before the public correction.
