Strong rehab outing could put Roki Sasaki back in Dodgers' postseason roster contention
"We've all got to huddle up and figure out what's the next plan,"
"I personally don't know Roki's plan after tonight."
"I know he wants to contribute. So we've just got to see where he fits in. And we'll have that conversation as an organization."
"The conversation with Ben yesterday wasn't fun for anyone,"
Roki Sasaki topped 100 mph a half-dozen times in four shutout innings during a triple-A rehab start for Oklahoma City, throwing 90 pitches with 52 strikes, striking out eight and walking four. He tired in the fifth inning, surrendering three runs, two walks, two hits and a hit batter. Sasaki is unlikely to join the Dodgers' rotation but could be used from the bullpen. He went 1-1 with a 4.72 ERA in eight starts before a mid-May shoulder impingement and allowed 17 hits and 11 earned runs in 14 innings across his first four rehab outings. Alex Vesia returned from the injured list and Ben Casparius was optioned to Oklahoma City to create a roster spot. Roster decisions will become tougher with 2½ weeks remaining in the regular season.
