Shohei Ohtani made a much-anticipated pitching debut for the Los Angeles Dodgers, facing the San Diego Padres. Though he struggled with command during his one-inning appearance, he hit 100 mph and showed potential. Ohtani also shone at bat, hitting a key double and contributing two RBIs, including in a pivotal four-run fourth inning. Despite initial struggles against a strong Padres pitcher, the Dodgers secured a 6-3 victory after a comeback fueled by Ohtani and other players' contributions.
Ohtani's command was off, as should have been expected, but the stuff looked great and overall, it was an encouraging outing.
He needed 28 pitches to get through the inning, but hit 100 mph with his fastball.
On offense, it looked like the Dodgers were going to be shut down by Dylan Cease early as he struck out the first five hitters he faced.
The Dodgers came back in the fourth inning to take the lead...Ohtani then drove in his second run of the game with a single.
