Palisades boys' tennis team wins 16th consecutive City Section title
Briefly

Palisades secured its 16th consecutive title in the City Section Open Division boys' tennis finals, defeating Granada Hills 23-6.5. The match continued Palisades' legacy, having faced Granada Hills for the tenth straight time in the finals. With key player Kristian Sharma ineligible, Granada was unable to mount a challenge. Palisades dominated the match, winning all seven initial matchups, and clinched victory before Granada could score. Head coach Bud Kling reflected on the remarkable streak, emphasizing resilience and teamwork in their ongoing success over the years.
"To win 16 in a row is hard to believe," Palisades head coach Bud Kling said upon being doused with a bucket of water after collecting his 53rd City title.
"Granada Hills has been a formidable opponent over the last decade or more but every team has a down year here and there. We've been the underdog three or four times during this run and managed to find a way to win."
UC Santa Barbara-bound senior Lorenzo Brunkow won his first three sets, 6-2, 6-0, 6-0, before being subbed out in the last rotation.
Palisades clinched victory before the third-seeded Highlanders notched their first point, sweeping all seven matches in the first rotation.
