Names to watch at Dodgers spring training
""I'm hoping to catch up with Patrick Copen and just talk to him about his story, his journey there, because it certainly is one that's inspiring, to be honest, the way that he's he's persevered," McKain said."
""Did not pitch very well, gave up three runs, was only able to record just one out," McKain said. "He was outrighted off the A's roster and he had a 5.74 ERA in Triple-A. But he's another interesting name.""
"McKain called Chuckie Robinson "the most notable" of the catchers invited to spring training, as he's played for the team before, though only for one game."
The Los Angeles Dodgers invited 32 non-roster players to spring training: 17 pitchers, 10 position players and five catchers. The group blends minor-league, international, and some with prior major-league experience, plus a few recent signings. Patrick Copen returned after a 2024 line-drive injury that cost use of his right eye, pitching 117 2/3 innings with a 3.59 ERA and leading Dodgers minor-league pitchers with 152 strikeouts in 2025. Carlos Duran had a brief major-league outing with the Athletics, allowing three runs while recording one out and posting a 5.74 ERA in Triple-A. Catcher Chuckie Robinson, 31, has one prior major-league game and was signed to a minor-league deal in December while appearing on a 40-man roster.
