The Long Island Ducks celebrate their 25th season, recently marked by the contract purchase of infielder Lizandro Rodriguez by the Toronto Blue Jays. Ducks Manager Lew Ford expressed his pride in Rodriguez, who has shown promise by driving in a game-winning run in a recent match against Lancaster. Rodriguez has a background of professional play with the Kansas City Royals, boasting a solid batting average and a notable number of home runs and stolen bases. He is the third Ducks player to secure an opportunity with a Major League or foreign team this season.
We are very happy that Lizandro has received this opportunity. He plays the game hard and we wish him the best of luck with the Blue Jays.
Rodriguez drove home the game-winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning with a sacrifice fly to right field off Ryley Gilliam.
