Kolten Wong, a veteran second baseman, retired from Major League Baseball after 11 seasons, concluding his career following a notable short stint with the Los Angeles Dodgers. After being signed in September 2023, Wong performed effectively enough to earn a postseason roster spot. Despite later signing with the Baltimore Orioles and Arizona Diamondbacks, he did not make it back to the Majors. Celebrating his career, he expressed his satisfaction with family life and the futility of chasing a dwindling opportunity in professional baseball.
Right when I signed, I went down to Arizona and started working with the hitting coaches, working in the hitting labs. It really helped me find my groove.
I've kind of come to the conclusion that I'm probably going to be hanging them up. It's just one of those things where, the game how it's going now, there's no sense of chasing it.
