"And there's kind of like, for example, Yoshinobu knows when he's going to pitch for Team Japan, and we're aligned as far as our organization, our pitching guys, he's comfortable with it. You know, he's just kind of wishing him well and play well and that's kind of about it."
"Yamamoto has been the workhorse for Los Angeles over the last year, coming in with no rest in Game 7 of the World Series and, overall, the MVP of the team during the postseason, giving them long runs of work without giving up runs."
Yoshinobu Yamamoto, the Los Angeles Dodgers' standout pitcher, is leaving to represent Team Japan in the World Baseball Classic alongside teammate Shohei Ohtani. Yamamoto was instrumental in the Dodgers' postseason run, appearing in Game 7 of the World Series without rest and serving as the team's MVP during the playoffs. He consistently pitched deep into games while the team managed bullpen limitations. After an offseason of intense training, Yamamoto reported to Spring Training healthy and ramped up quickly, pitching two Spring Training games totaling three innings with five hits, two earned runs, and four strikeouts on 52 pitches. Manager Dave Roberts expressed confidence in Yamamoto's body awareness and organizational alignment regarding his WBC participation, noting the team will miss his leadership and work ethic.
