"I was raised - by a man who served our country for 30 years - to respect the highest office in our country. For me, it doesn't matter who is in the office, I'm going to go to the White House. I've never tried to be political. For me, I am going to continue to try to do what tradition says and not try to make political statements, because I am not a politician."
"A side trip to D.C. before the July 17-19 series at Yankee Stadium would shorten the All-Star break by a day for Dodgers players - a sacrifice many would not likely endorse. After three games in Philadelphia, however, the Dodgers have an off day before returning to New York for a three-game series against the Mets."
The Dodgers' scheduled trip to Washington, D.C. from April 3-5 to face the Nationals will not include a White House visit due to game times making a daytime visit impossible. Manager Dave Roberts confirmed he will attend a White House celebration as a matter of tradition, regardless of political considerations. The team is expected to eventually visit to celebrate their 2025 World Series championship. A potential opportunity exists during the summer after the All-Star break, when the Dodgers have scheduled road trips to New York and Philadelphia with available off days that could accommodate a side trip to Washington, D.C.
