The Los Angeles Dodgers are facing increasing injuries among position players as Max Muncy is expected to miss six weeks due to a leg injury. Manager Dave Roberts reported that Teoscar Hernández and Tommy Edman are being evaluated for foot injuries. Kiké Hernández also has an elbow problem, raising concerns about roster decisions with only one healthy bench player available. Roberts indicated that Edman, diagnosed with a small fracture in his pinky toe, may not require an injured list placement, while Kiké is a probable candidate for it.
"Yeah, we might have to," Roberts said. "Today, when we have one player available and that's the catcher, that's not a good feeling."
"Left elbow, inside, outside of it, so doesn't affect the defense, but the swing has been compromised," Roberts said.
Testing on Edman revealed he suffered a small fracture in his right pinky toe after being hit by a pitch.
All three of them are potential options to land on the injured list, although Roberts said Tommy Edman is unlikely to need an IL stint.
