Dodgers Injury Update: Kike Hernandez Rehab Starting To Progress 'Really Rapidly'
"We're starting to move along really rapidly in terms of my rehab stuff and I don't really want to, when it comes to having to hit batting practice and all that, I don't want to take away from the guys that are playing (in the WBC). So I haven't had that conversation yet with Andrew (Friedman). I only asked permission to go to Houston."
"Hernández returned to the Dodgers after playing 92 games last season, during which he hit .203/.255/.366 with eight doubles, 10 home runs, and 35 RBI. He also appeared in all 17 playoff games despite his elbow injury, batting .250 with nine runs, one home run and seven RBI."
"The decline in Hernandez's production likely had some correlation with his elbow injury that bothered him while swinging, but didn't affect him on defense. He spent time on the IL during the season to treat the injury."
Kiké Hernández signed a one-year deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers before Spring Training but was immediately placed on the 60-day injured list following left elbow surgery performed during the offseason. He will miss the start of the 2026 season. Hernández briefly joined Team Puerto Rico for the 2026 World Baseball Classic but returned to the Dodgers after pool play to focus on his rehabilitation. He cited rapid progress in his rehab and did not want to take away playing time from Puerto Rico's active roster. Last season, Hernández appeared in 92 games with a .203 batting average and also played in all 17 playoff games despite his elbow injury.
