Dodgers GM comments on offseason: 'We're Close to Done'
"Los Angeles Dodgers general manager and executive president of baseball operations Brandon Gomes said L.A. is not done making moves. Gomes was asked whether the signing of Kyle Tucker signals the end of L.A.'s dominant winter, and simply put, the Dodgers aren't done adding to their loaded roster. "We're close to done. We can never be done, won't say anything official but we feel very good about this team with Spring Training a few weeks away," Gomes said."
"The Dodgers have had themselves one heck of an offseason, adding arguably the best closer in all of baseball in Edwin Diaz and the 29-year-old All-Star outfielder Tucker. Los Angeles entered this offseason with two major weaknesses: the bullpen and the outfield, and some would say they fixed them in one offseason by adding arguably the two best free agents in their position. While the Dodgers added two phenomenal players, one could argue that they could use some depth in the outfield."
Los Angeles remains active in pursuing roster additions and feels very good about its team with Spring Training approaching. The offseason additions include closer Edwin Diaz and All-Star outfielder Kyle Tucker, addressing previous bullpen and outfield weaknesses. Outfield depth beyond Tucker and Teoscar Hernandez remains uncertain, with Andy Pages offering solid defense but inconsistent offense, Tommy Edman potentially limited after offseason ankle surgery, and Alex Call primarily a left-handed matchup specialist. Additional outfield depth would strengthen the club. The starting rotation is settled but vulnerable to injuries, so acquiring more starting pitching would provide insurance for regular season and postseason ambitions.
