Dodgers' Freddie Freeman Provides Major Update on Rib Injury After First Games Back
Briefly

Freddie Freeman was a late scratch from the Dodgers' Opening Day lineup due to rib discomfort linked to a previous injury. Despite concerns, Freeman shared optimistic news regarding his condition after hitting in the cage ahead of Game 2 in Japan, indicating the discomfort might be scar tissue build-up. He expressed confidence, stating he has not experienced significant issues with his rib and avoided an MRI. The Dodgers have also been managing another star's illness as they start the season without both Freeman and Mookie Betts.
"Hopefully it will be an afterthought by Thursday," Freeman said to Harris. "I was able to hit in the cage and do whatever I wanted to on the day of Game 2 [in Japan]. But just didn't know, game-speed, if it would make it come up again."
Freeman stated that he hasn't had any further issues with his rib, feeling confident that he was just working through some scar-tissue build-up from where it had healed over the offseason.
Freeman also mentioned that the injury healed enough to avoid an MRI, reflecting optimism about his recovery as the season progresses.
