Dodgers Already Impressed With 2 Prospects Acquired in Dustin May Trade
"It's hard to remember another player who went through more in a first full season - being traded twice and still navigating his way up to Double-A successfully,"
"It speaks to his resiliency, which is such a valuable trait. Everyone knows about the hitting ability, but I was also impressed with his defense in the outfield and at first base."
"He never takes a pitch off on either side of the ball; he's grinding and competing with the best of them,"
"We love the way he impacts the game with his speed on the bases and in the outfield in addition to being a well-balanced hitter."
The Los Angeles Dodgers traded right-handed pitcher Dustin May to the Boston Red Sox at the 2025 July trade deadline after five seasons and part of a sixth with Los Angeles. The Dodgers received outfielders James Tibbs III and Zach Ehrhard. Tibbs, previously part of the Rafael Devers trade, posted a .900 OPS with Double-A Tulsa and finished the season with 20 home runs, showing resilience and defensive ability. Ehrhard stole 37 bases, hit 14 homers and 30 doubles in 2025 and posted an .857 OPS with Tulsa after the trade. May became a free agent after struggling with Boston. The trade addressed rotation depth and added promising position-player talent.
