Dodger Injury Updates: Hyeseong Kim & Kike Hernandez Starting Rehab Assignments
Briefly

The Los Angeles Dodgers are experiencing positive momentum after sweeping the San Diego Padres. Several players, including Tanner Scott, Kirby Yates, Kiké Hernández, Hyeseong Kim, and Tommy Edman, are progressing toward their return from injuries. Hernández has stepped up his rehab from left elbow inflammation after undergoing nonsurgical procedures. Kim, recovering from left shoulder bursitis, has resumed hitting. Edman is the furthest from return, expected to remain out until September due to a sprained right ankle. Manager Dave Roberts is optimistic about the upcoming rehab assignments for these players.
Hernández was first placed on the injured list in the middle of July with left elbow inflammation. The initial projections was he would return shortly after the All-Star break, but things didn't progress well. Hernández then underwent nonsurgical procedures, which have since sped up his progress, and that allowed him to begin hitting.
Kim was placed on the injured list with left shoulder bursitis at the end of July after initially attempting to play through the pain. He received a cortisone injection and was shut down in the days after, but he has since resumed fielding drills and recently began hitting again.
Edman is expected to remain out until September as the Dodgers remain cautious with him after another sprained right ankle. Edman began baseball activities last week.
Roberts said, 'He's going to go out on rehab this week, so that's a big step for him. He's anxious to get going.'
