The Los Angeles Dodgers have experienced a severe increase in strikeouts since July, now striking out 25.2% of the time, the highest in MLB. This is a significant rise from their 21.1% mark prior to July. Manager Dave Roberts pointed out that the team needs to adjust their approach, particularly in two-strike situations, to reduce strikeouts and improve overall offensive production. Additionally, their walk rate has dropped by about 1%, and players are showing increased anxiety in good hitting counts, exacerbating their struggles.
The Los Angeles Dodgers have struck out 25.2% of the time as a team, which is the worst mark in MLB, and they are one of just two clubs with their hitters striking out more than a quarter of the time in that stretch.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts highlighted, 'You've got to find a way to put the ball in play and force something to happen. Because yeah, I think if you look at the strikeout rate the last few weeks, it's certainly up there. We've got to get better.'
Roberts noted, 'If you look at certain hitters in counts, I think when we get in good counts, right now we're a little too anxious,' indicating that their aggressiveness is leading to more strikeouts.
He also emphasized the need for adjustment: 'We've got to find a way to kind of reset and just overall take better at-bats and have a two-strike approach.'
