Could Dodgers Move Shohei Ohtani to Outfield One Day? Angels Insider Thinks So
Briefly

The Los Angeles Dodgers are preparing for Shohei Ohtani's return to pitching, prompting discussions about his future if pitching isn't successful. Expert Jeff Fletcher highlights the necessity of considering Ohtani's role beyond hitting, especially if he cannot pitch effectively. During a previous season where he pitched minimally, Ohtani practiced playing other positions, showcasing his versatility. Fletcher emphasizes the importance of utilizing Ohtani’s athleticism in any capacity since his skills shouldn't be wasted, regardless of challenges he may face as a pitcher.
"What's gonna be super interesting is let's just say the pitching just doesn't work, and he has all these years on his contract, I think you gotta play him in a position. If you realize that he can't be a pitcher anymore, you just can't have your DH spot locked up into one guy for seven, eight more years," said Jeff Fletcher.
"And I hope we don't get to this point, where we're talking about Ohtani not being a pitcher, but if it is, I think it's going to be a whole other fascinating conversation because I think he's too good of an athlete to just have him sit there, not doing anything in between his at-bats," Fletcher added.
