Angels To Activate Grayson Rodriguez On Sunday
"Yusei Kikuchi is still sidelined at least through May due to shoulder inflammation, but with Rodriguez now approaching his return, the Angels' rotation is a step closer to its first-choice state. Jose Soriano is enjoying a fantastic season, and Rodriguez will join Reid Detmers, Walbert Urena, and Jack Kochanowicz as the rest of the starting five."
The Angels named Grayson Rodriguez as the scheduled starter for Sunday against the Dodgers, activating him from the 15-day injured list. Shoulder inflammation and “dead arm” soreness during spring training delayed his season debut and his Angels debut. His first Major League appearance since July 31, 2024, follows a 2024 run with a 3.86 ERA, 26.5% strikeout rate, and 7.3% walk rate over 116 2/3 innings for the Orioles. A right lat/teres area discomfort ended his 2024 early, and 2025 included no pitching in majors or minors due to lat strain and elbow soreness, culminating in elbow debridement surgery last August. Rodriguez was traded to Anaheim for Taylor Ward, with Rodriguez offering longer control through 2029. Yusei Kikuchi remains sidelined through May, but Rodriguez’s return strengthens the Angels’ rotation alongside Jose Soriano, Reid Detmers, Walbert Urena, and Jack Kochanowicz.
