Ranieri turns down Italy job; will stay at Roma
Briefly

Claudio Ranieri, the former Leicester City manager, has officially declined the coaching role of the Italian national team after Luciano Spalletti's dismissal. Ranieri, who had led Roma to a fifth-place finish in Serie A, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity but confirmed his decision to remain fully committed to his advisory position at Roma. He received the backing of the club's owners but asserted that the final decision was his alone. Italy’s next competitive match is set to be a World Cup qualifier against Estonia in September.
I'd like to thank president [Gabriele] Gravina for the opportunity, a great honour, but I have reflected and decided to remain at Roma's disposal in my new position completely.
The Friedkins have given me their full support and backing for whatever decision I have taken regarding the national team, but the decision is mine alone.
