"Sunday's stage nine also starts on the Adriatic and finishes with a steep climb over the final three kilometres where Eulalio will again be tested by the big guns. Monday is a day off and Tuesday sees what promises to be a decisive 42km individual time trial along Italy's west coast. Some 15 riders have pulled out so far, compared with 25 who never made it as far as Rome in 2025."
Jhonatan Narvaez won stage eight of the Giro d'Italia, his second stage victory, with UAE Team Emirates XRG taking a third win despite injury-related withdrawals. A 156km rolling stage from Chieti favored a breakaway, and Narvaez joined an escape after an earlier group was brought back. He built a 32-second advantage at the finish over Andreas Leknessund, with Mikkel Bjerg third. Afonso Eulalio remains in the general classification lead ahead of Jonas Vingegaard and Felix Gall. Vingegaard gained time on Friday, while Jai Hindley attacked on Saturday but stayed behind. Stage nine ends with a steep final climb, followed by a decisive 42km individual time trial on Tuesday.
