The Intangible Economy: Realizing Wealth from Innovation, IP and Trade
"Known to many throughout the industry for serving as the Senior Executive Vice President at the United States Chamber of Commerce's Global Innovation Policy Center, a little over a year ago he charted a new path. In the spring of 2024, he founded Kilbride Public Affairs, where he provides public policy advice, advocacy and education. His focus is on helping clients within the innovation ecosystem as they work to navigate the economics of innovation and intellectual property, as well as the politics and policy of innovation."
"Kilbride recounted his transformative journey from skepticism about intellectual property-often regarded as a hindrance in trade agreements during his time as a U.S. Trade Representative during the George W. Bush administration-to becoming a staunch advocate for IP. His apprehensions dissipated when he was recruited to run international operations at the then-Global Intellectual Property Center. Convinced by the center's leader to give it a chance, Kilbride found himself wholeheartedly committing to the cause of intellectual property and completely buying into the importance of IP after only a few months on the job."
Patrick Kilbride founded Kilbride Public Affairs in spring 2024 to provide public policy advice, advocacy, and education focused on the innovation ecosystem. He helps clients navigate the economics of innovation, intellectual property, and the politics and policy surrounding innovation. Kilbride previously served as Senior Executive Vice President at the United States Chamber of Commerce's Global Innovation Policy Center and earlier held a role as a U.S. Trade Representative. His experience shifted him from initial skepticism about intellectual property to becoming a committed advocate. The term "innovation" remains elusive and often misinterpreted, causing implementers and innovators to talk past each other.
