Russian state cyber forces attributed to the FSB and GRU carried out a series of cyber attacks against Poland's electricity grid at the end of December 2025, targeting systems that manage electricity from renewable sources and two combined heat and power plants. The UK's National Cyber Security Centre warned British utilities and critical national infrastructure operators to strengthen cyber defences and resilience. The NCSC highlighted resources such as the Cyber Assessment Framework to help operators implement resilience measures. The Cyber Security and Resilience Bill aims to strengthen regulatory requirements for datacentres, utilities, government and other critical organisations. Prior planning and published guidance on response preparation are emphasized.
