The sequel title “Minecraft Movie Squared” was revealed at Microsoft’s Minecraft Live during TwitchCon 2026, alongside a July 2027 release date. Jack Black returns with Jason Momoa, and Matt Berry returns as a new undisclosed character after previously playing Nitwit. Kirsten Dunst joins as Alex. Jared Hess returns to direct a script co-written with Chris Galletta, with Danielle Brooks and Jennifer Coolidge reprising roles. Warner Bros. and Mojang also run a Minecraft Movie Build Challenge allowing fan submissions via TikTok, Twitch, or Minecraft for potential appearance in the film or end credits.
