"It's a great story, he said, where after sitting on the throne for 40 years, Conan gets complacent, and now he gets forced out of the kingdom, slowly. Then there's conflict, of course, and then he somehow comes back, and then there's all kinds of madness and violence and magic and creatures."
"Now, of course, you have all the special effects, and the studio system has plenty of money to make those movies really big."
Arnold Schwarzenegger, at 78 years old, is returning to the Conan franchise for a third film titled King Conan, directed by Christopher McQuarrie of Mission: Impossible fame. The film follows an aging Conan who becomes complacent after ruling for 40 years before being forced from his kingdom, leading to conflict, his return, and ensuing chaos involving magic and creatures. Modern special effects and studio resources will enable a larger-scale production than the original 1982 film, which earned $68 million. Schwarzenegger also plans returns to the Predator and Commando franchises. His upcoming projects include Kung Fury 2 with Michael Fassbender and The Man With the Bag, where he plays Santa Claus.
