Arnie's Back As Conan, With Mission Impossible's Director
"It's a great story where Conan was 40 years king...and he gets complacent, and he gets forced out of the kingdom, slowly. Then there's conflict, of course, and then he somehow comes back, and then there's all kinds of madness and violence and magic and creatures."
"they just hired a fantastic writer/director who did Tom Cruise's last four movies. They just hired him to write and direct King Conan."
Arnold Schwarzenegger has confirmed that King Conan is moving forward with Christopher McQuarrie, director of the last four Mission Impossible films, hired to write and direct. The film will feature Schwarzenegger at 78 years old playing an older Conan who ruled for 40 years before becoming complacent and losing his kingdom. The story involves conflict, his eventual return to power, and elements of magic, creatures, and violence. Additional projects in development include a possible appearance in a new Predator film and Commando 2. The original Conan the Barbarian debuted in 1982 when Schwarzenegger was 35, establishing him as a major Hollywood star.
