'White Lotus' star Aimee Lou Wood defends Sarah Sherman after calling out 'SNL' for 'mean' parody
Briefly

Aimee Lou Wood expressed her disappointment over a recent 'Saturday Night Live' sketch in which Sarah Sherman parodied her character from 'White Lotus.' While deeming the skit 'mean and unfunny,' Wood made it clear she does not blame Sherman, addressing the concept of the parody instead. She enjoys clever humor but felt the skit unfairly targeted her with outdated misogynistic jokes. Wood also noted that the humor was not about her gap teeth, which she embraces, and shared her thoughts on the sketch's failure to maintain good-spirited parody.
Not @sarahsquirm 's fault. Not hating on her, hating on the concept. I actually love being taken the piss out of when it's clever and in good spirits.
I don't mind caricature - I understand that's what SNL is. But the rest of the skit was punching up and I/Chelsea was the only one punched down on.
It was a sharp and funny skit until it suddenly took a screeching turn into 1970's misogyny.
