San Francisco festival announces 'SNL' reunion
"As far as San Francisco festivals go, Hardly Strictly Bluegrass might be the most wholesome, Outside Lands the most rocking and Portola the loudest - but SF Sketchfest undoubtedly holds the title of the funniest. Now in its 23rd year, SF Sketchfest brings more than 200 acts from across the comedy spectrum to a dozen San Francisco venues, ranging from standup destinations like Cobb's Comedy Club and the Punch Line to music venues like Great American Music Hall and theaters like Sydney Goldstein."
"This year, one of the premiere events is a tribute to the women of "SNL," featuring alums Ellen Cleghorne, Rachel Dratch, Robin Duke, Ana Gasteyer, Laraine Newman, Cheri Oteri and Julia Sweeney. "Kids in the Hall," mainstays at the festival, will do a live read of their film "Brain Candy" for its 30th anniversary, and the "Middle Aged Dad Jam Band" will perform in honor of 25 years of "Wet Hot American Summer,""
SF Sketchfest runs Jan. 15 through Feb. 1 and brings more than 200 acts across the comedy spectrum to a dozen San Francisco venues. Events take place at standup clubs, music halls and theaters, with headline shows that often sell out. The festival reunites casts from iconic TV shows and films, including a tribute to the women of SNL, a live read of Kids in the Hall's Brain Candy, and a Wet Hot American Summer anniversary performance. Lineup highlights include Randall Park, Maria Bamford, Janeane Garofalo, Upright Citizens Brigade's ASSSSCAT, Lane Moore's Tinder Live, and Mark Mothersbaugh performing soundtrack work with an orchestra.
