Amazon MGM Studios has reached an agreement with the Broccoli family to take over creative rights for the James Bond franchise. Mike Hopkins, head of Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios, emphasizes that they aim to innovate while respecting intellectual property. The changes to the iconic character, reimagined as 'Double-O-Prime', include humorous twists on classic phrases, mission scenarios, and character interactions, such as Bond engaging in online shopping or delivering packages rather than traditional spy activities, reflecting a modern, satirical take on the franchise.
"So if you're gonna do things, we think you have to do it with a different angle, a different take," said Mike Hopkins.
The emblematic line "The name is Bond, James Bond" will now be followed by "And I love my Kindle Fire!"
Instead of spending money at the baccarat table, 007 will impulsively order lamps online at 1 a.m.
In a crucial chase sequence, Bond will have to deliver two hundred packages in a Honda Civic by 7 p.m. or risk unemployment.
