Harrow Lodge Park, located in Hornchurch, serves as the borough's largest urban park, spanning 130 acres. Initially part of Maylands Green and Wybridge, the park was established for public enjoyment in the early 1900s and acquired by the Hornchurch Urban District Council in 1936. Early developments were interrupted by World War II, during which much of the land was repurposed for food production. Post-war, various recreational facilities were introduced, including a paddling pool, cricket pitches, a mini golf course, and a swimming pool, evolving the park into a cherished community space.
Harrow Lodge Park, developed for public use in the 1900s, is Hornchurch's largest urban park, sprawling over 130 acres and rich in history.
Originally part of the manor of Maylands Green, the park was initially developed for leisure, but its progress was significantly hampered during World War II.
