""The years have been good to me,""
""Happy 106th birthday""
""Last year, when we celebrated his 105th birthday, he made a commitment to everyone that he wanted to surpass Lawrence Campbell,""
""Sam always wanted to catch Lawrence.""
Sam Seibert celebrated his 106th birthday at the San Jose Fire Museum on Market Street, joined by generations of family, friends and former colleagues. Seibert retired from the San Jose Fire Department in 1976 and opened the old Station No. 1 that now houses the museum, which displays his personal effects and a mural commissioned by Seibert and supporter Rob Bettencourt. Seibert uses a motorized chair, exercises daily, walks and talks with people with assistance from caregiver Sainimili Matanatabu. He is most likely the oldest living firefighter in the United States after Vincent Dransfield's 2024 death.
