A four-week program examines the rise of cities across medieval Europe and comparative developments in different countries and cultures. The curriculum covers similarities in everyday life, common struggles of townsfolk, occupational opportunities, and the broader historical impact of urban communities. Live 90-minute sessions meet weekly on Fridays from 1:00 to 2:30 pm EST beginning January 9. Four thematic modules address urban origins c.1000–1300; governance and management of medieval towns; daily life, social structures, and work; and religious and cultural influences that shaped urban identity and civic life.
