On August 6, 1945, the U.S. dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima, killing an estimated 80,000 people instantly. Three days later, another bomb was dropped on Nagasaki, leading to approximately 40,000 immediate deaths. The total deaths from both bombings ranged between 120,000 and 220,000 due to burns and radiation exposure. After Japan's surrender on August 15, 1945, the Hiroshima district was transformed into Peace Memorial Park, housing the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum, which attracts around 1 million visitors annually and promotes world peace.
