And when we asked the students at West Valley-Mission, 'What is the one thing that will make the biggest difference to you?', 2,000 of them said, 'We need help with food insecurity.'"

West Valley College opened a renovated cafe and launched a universal free meal program in partnership with Thomas Cuisine. The West Valley-Mission Community College District will provide every in-person student at least one fresh, nutritious meal per school day for free beginning this fall, with multiple freshly prepared meals available. New cafes and dining halls opened at West Valley and Mission colleges. The West Valley cafeteria was upgraded with plush seating, communal tables, and free drip coffee. The renovation repurposed a former campus center and relocated the bookstore, and student use of the new space has been high.
