Washington QB Demond Williams says near transfer a mistake
"Definitely being 19, you get good advice and you get really bad advice at times. We're all human. We all make mistakes. And at the end of the day, I'm super blessed to be here with my brothers and my coaches and just at the University of Washington. I'm just so happy to be here and so blessed."
"I have to do what is best for me and my future."
"limbo for 48 hours"
Demond Williams Jr., a 19-year-old Washington quarterback, entered the transfer portal on Jan. 6 then withdrew two days later, calling the decision a mistake resulting from bad advice. His name, image and likeness deal exceeded $4 million, and Washington reportedly prepared legal options to enforce the contract. Coach Jedd Fisch described the situation as being in "limbo for 48 hours." Williams expressed gratitude that teammates and coaches accepted him back and declined to comment on reported LSU interest. The portal announcement coincided with a Huskies memorial for goalkeeper Mia Hamant, drawing fan chagrin.
