UF Will Temporarily Pause Out-of-State Transfers
"The brief pause is simply intended to give us a short period, approximately a week, to review our current transfer numbers and ensure we are appropriately aligned with our enrollment targets."
The University of Florida implemented a brief pause on out-of-state transfer admissions to review and balance its resident and nonresident student populations. The pause, lasting approximately one week, does not affect previously admitted transfers. Provost Joe Glover and Vice President of Enrollment Management Mary Parker communicated the decision to institutional deans to ensure enrollment aligns with targets. This action responds to Florida state legislators considering a bill requiring UF and three other top state universities to maintain student bodies comprised of at least 95 percent Florida residents. Currently, 71 percent of UF's students are Florida residents as of fall 2023.
