UCSD professors wanted money to research telepathy. They turned to Jeffrey Epstein.

UC San Diego neuroscientist V.S. Ramachandran and colleagues, including New Age author Deepak Chopra, received funding from convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein for research projects. A 2010 fundraising request to Epstein for the Center for Brain and Cognition was followed by a 2017 study on autistic savants with alleged telepathic abilities. Ramachandran expressed comfort with Epstein funding his lab. Released Department of Justice documents reveal extensive email exchanges between Epstein and Chopra discussing various topics, demonstrating coordination of research work and involvement of other UCSD scientists. Chopra later characterized the relationship as limited and expressed regret about email exchanges reflecting poor judgment.
