"The Trump administration is looking to fine the University of California, Los Angeles, $1.2 billion for the institution's alleged practices of antisemitism, according to the Los Angeles Times. The fine is just one element of Trump's 28-page settlement proposal to the university; other provisions include overhauling the institution's admissions procedures and hiring practices as well as its policies surrounding athletics, scholarships, gender identity and discrimination, the Times reported. In exchange, the Trump administration would release about $500 million in stalled research grants"
"Although a full copy of the letter has not been made public, the demands it lays out are very similar to those included in the agreements the Trump administration reached with Columbia and Brown Universities, the Times said. The paper also noted that the letter seemed thrown together quickly, contained a number of typos and made erroneous references to other universities."
A 28-page settlement proposal seeks a $1.2 billion fine against the University of California, Los Angeles, for alleged antisemitism. The proposal demands overhauls of admissions procedures, hiring practices, athletics policies, scholarship rules, gender identity protocols, and discrimination policies. The proposal conditions the release of roughly $500 million in stalled National Institutes of Health and Department of Energy research grants on compliance. The demands parallel agreements made with Columbia and Brown Universities. The full letter has not been publicly released. The letter included numerous typographical errors and erroneous references to other universities and appeared hastily compiled.
