The King's College to Close Permanently
Briefly

The King's College in New York City has announced its permanent closure after struggling for years with financial difficulties. The Board of Trustees stated efforts to find strategic partners for reopening were unsuccessful. The New York State Education Department granted a deadline of July 15, 2025, to present a resumption plan, which was not met. Consequently, the college ceased student enrollment after spring 2023, and lost accreditation the following August. The Board expressed gratitude towards the community that supported the college over its nearly 90-year history.
In our last update, we shared that we had launched an expansive effort to identify strategic partners with a mutual vision for excellence in Christian higher education in New York City.
Despite a thorough search for such a partner, the Board has been unable to secure the support necessary to present a plan to resume operations by the July 15, 2025, deadline granted to us by the New York State Education Department.
Plagued by financial challenges, the college stopped enrolling students after the spring 2023 semester; the Middle States Commission on Higher Education pulled its accreditation in August of that year.
The Board wishes to thank the many generations of students, alumni, faculty, staff, parents, and friends who have formed the rich fabric of the King's community for almost 90 years.
