"A viral video of a student accusing an instructor of illegally teaching "gender ideology" at Texas A&M University has led to the removal of a dean and department head, as well as calls for investigations - including by the Justice Department - and the firing of the university president. The video, posted on X by state Rep. Brian Harrison (R) on Monday, appears to have been filmed with a hidden camera by a student during a class focused on children's literature."
"'According to our president, there's only two genders,' the student says, alleging that the instruction 'very much goes against not only myself but a lot of people's religious beliefs.' Neither the student nor the instructor appear on camera in the video. The student is heard insistingthat the lesson is 'not legal, and I don't want to promote something that is against our president's laws.'"
Hidden-camera footage of a student accusing an instructor of illegally teaching 'gender ideology' at Texas A&M triggered removal of a dean and a department head, calls for investigations including by the Justice Department, and demands to fire the university president. The student, recorded during a children's literature class, cited the university president's statement that 'there's only two genders' and said the instruction conflicted with religious beliefs. The instructor called the accusation a 'misconception,' said the material was not illegal, noted officials invited an observer, and asserted legal and ethical authority to teach biologically framed content. The student sought anonymity after intimidation. Texas A&M enrolls over 79,000 students and has a large conservative alumni network.
